The Surf Industry Honours night has two special elements; one is to honour the three deserving recipients, and the second is for our recipients to select a charity partner.

Geoff’s charity partner is Youth Focus Youth Focus was Established in 1994; they are a leading not-for-profit organisation that delivers innovative and accessible mental health services and programs across Western Australia to help young people thrive.

The team at Youth Focus were extremely excited to be Geoff’s charity of choice. CEO Derry Simpson said, “Youth Focus exists to support young people and their mental health so they can thrive in their community. We are incredibly honoured to be chosen by Geoff as his charity of choice, and we wish him our heartfelt congratulations on receiving the Service to the Industry Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution and leadership. Thank you to Geoff and to the team at SBIA – these funds will make a very real difference for the young people we work with.”

At SurfAid ,their core mission is to improve the health, well-being and resilience of remote communities connected to us through surfing.

They believe that positive, sustainable and long-lasting change can only be achieved through the active involvement of the locals in the places they work.

They strive for lasting improvement in the health, well-being and resilience of remote communities by implementing community-led development programs that are clear in their goals, effective in their implementation and subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation.

In recognition of SurfAid’s remarkable contributions and the invaluable work they continue to do, a third of the proceeds from the auction will be dedicated to SurfAid.

Ethan’s charity partner is OneWave.

OneWave is a non-profit surf community raising awareness of mental health through a simple recipe…saltwater therapy, surfing and fluro. We believe everyone should have the chance to ride waves and openly talk about mental health without being judged.

Since launching in Bondi in 2013, OneWave has held Fluro Friday events at over 200 beaches across more than 50 countries, raising awareness around mental health, reducing stigma and helping people free the funk.

“Congrats to Ethan for winning the SBIA Surfer of the Year award! We are super grateful for Ethan choosing OneWave as his charity to support and to SBIA and everyone who donated. The donations will make a big difference in helping us reach our goal of impacting 15,000 people through OneWave‘s mental health programs in 2024. Thanks for your amazing support!”
