Teaming up with Beach Without Sand store in North Avalon, World surf champion Barton Lynch is calling on all Aussie groms to get involved in the 2018 Hurley BL’s Blast Off presented by Beecraft, with online registrations now open for the 13thannual school holiday program.

The 4-day event (which continues to grow) is not only about the surf, but combines all aspects of youth culture including skate and music with other activities including the welcome BBQ, Blast Off Idol, and a lot more.

Last year was a sell out with 350 kids from all over Australia and overseas hitting the Northern Beaches to celebrate the coming of Summer at the pre-junior surfing festival for boys and girls under 14’s.

Last year saw the introduction of world first innovations including the HURLEY SURF CLUB POST HEAT COACHING which will be returning again for 2018. Blast Off entrants can make their way to the Hurley Surf Club van and watch their surf session on video while having the chance to be mentored by elite coaches Tim McDonald and Beau Mitchell. The introduction of this has elevated the coaching program to a new level and allows groms to receive personalised analysis and expert feedback to hone their surfing skills and improve athlete performance across the board.

With interest in the event at an all-time high, Barton introduced the KEENEST GROM award, which is the first entry received in each division. The winner receives a prize full of goodies for their pure froth factor kindly donated by sponsors.

The 4-day event is not only about the surf, but combines all aspects of youth culture including skate and music with other activities including the welcome BBQ, Blast Off Idol, and a lot more.

The charities of choice this year will be The Surfrider Foundation and The Disabled Surfers Association DSA who Blast Off will be raising money for.
