We are pleased to announce Brian Walker, CEO & Founder of The Retailer Doctor Group will be joining the SBIA Board of Management as our Independent Board Member.  No stranger to the SBIA, Brian has spoken at several of our Round Table meetings and has been a regular contributor to our weekly newsletter.

Brian brings considerable experience gained in the specialty retail, franchising and shopping centre sectors through line management, consulting, advisory and board roles.  He has successfully led change teams in multi channel retail arenas and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of many notable, integrated retail channel strategy projects. Brian is a featured columnist for Inside Retailing and Smart Company, he is also a contributing author for publications such as BRW, AFR and the Sydney Morning Herald to name a few.  You may have also seen him on the ABC, Channel 9 News, A Current Affair and Channel 7 as a retail media commentator.

A key focus for the SBIA in 2021 will be our research and data piece with particular focus on consumer insights for our members. Brian and his team have significant experience in this space which will be of great value for this initiative. SBIA President Anthony ‘Macka’ Wilson says “it’s exciting to have Brian on the SBIA Board, he has been a long time supporter of SBIA, his experience and input will be an asset for us, our members and the broader industry”.

Similarly Brian is similar super enthusiastic to start working with the SBIA Board, “I’m delighted to join the Board at SBIA, an organisation that I have long admired for their contribution to the surf and water sports industry. I trust that my perspective both in my industry experience and as an active participant in surfing will add to the successful journey of SBIA”. 

Prior to Brian’s appointment, Russell Zimmerman held this role for the past 7 years.  We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Russell for his significant contribution in his role as our Independent Board Member. Russell will continue his involvement with the SBIA as a member of the Advisory Board.
