New Reef Escape SP 17 Collection Revolutionizes the Rubber Sandal
Reef unveils Reef Escape, a bold new women’s collection of sandals that are “up for anything”, taking you anywhere on (or spontaneously off) your agenda. The Reef Escape collection is Designed to inspire confidence in quality and comfort and empower the rebellious, yet refined woman who embraces living in the moment.
Reef Escape helps provide all day comfort with exclusive Reef Cushion Rubber. Developed by VF-sourced engineers, the squishy, new Reef Cushion Rubber footbed blends EVA foam with rubber to strike the perfect balance between durability and softness. The Reef Cushion Rubber (and all other components of the sandal) is made with 100% PVC-free material, an example of Reef’s commitment to the environment. In lieu of the typical “stamped rubber bottom,” each Reef Escape Lux sandal is molded and shaped into an anatomical footbed with heel cupping for reinforcement foam and arch support, revolutionizing the rubber sandal by prioritizing comfort over cost.
“Reef Escape is a great example of consumer-centric design thinking. We analyzed the rubber sandal market and uncovered a unique opportunity to improve upon the basic rubber sandal design,” says Tom Cooke, VP of Footwear, Reef. “Our female consumer was asking for a combination of cute styling, all day comfort, and excellent quality. A beautiful product that solves a category weakness, we could not be more excited to launch the Reef Escape collection.”
Designed with sophisticated fun in mind, Reef Escape offers simple, neutral colors juxtaposed with bold, unpredictable prints to fit any occasion. Saturated pop colors of hot pink, mint and peach or more sun-kissed colors of blush, coral and lime are a nod to Reef’s Spring 17 line inspired by “vintage California.” The Reef Escape prints play on clean lines and geometric shapes. The Reef Escape Lux prints incorporate the detailing of popular vintage California stones such as marble and turquoise.
Reef Escape takes rubber sandals to a new level of quality and comfort. Each sandal is built with superior strap and toe post strength to prevent “blow-outs” and elevated with a comfortable matte lining to reduce rubbing. From unpredictable moments of the everyday, to running wild on the beach or sneaking in the side-door—the Reef Escape collection is up for anything.
